Pet-Friendly Spots & Events in Atlanta: Fido-Focused Fun
Buckhead Pet Pals has been serving the Atlanta Metro Area for over two decades. I have seen the onset of pet-friendly hotels, parks, housing, restaurants, and communities since I’ve been in the area. And, I love to see how Buckhead and its environs continue to flourish with amenities for pet lovers and their pets. Today, I’m highlighting some pet-friendly spots and events in Atlanta. Check them out and tag us on social media so we too can share in the pet-friendly fun.
Atlanta Beltline
First, the Atlanta BeltLine is a multi-purpose trail system that circles Atlanta’s core. Currently still under development, the total planned path stretches 22 miles around Atlanta’s center, some of which is already completed. The BeltLine is known for its Art on the BeltLine program, showcasing temporary public art installations along the trail, which makes it fun and exciting for the whole family. And, the Atlanta Beltline gets five bones (aka five stars) for being a very walkable area to bring pets and enjoy al fresco dining, per reviews on BringFido.
Check out Barks & Bites: Doggie Food Crawl on the Atlanta BeltLine, which is held every other Sunday from 11 AM to 2 PM from Mar 10, 2024 to Nov 17, 2024 at The Atlanta Beltline Eastside Trail. Sponsored by BiteLines Food and Street Art Tours, admission is based on registration and benefits the Atlanta Humane Society.
Westside Reservoir Park
Additionally, Westside Reservoir Park, which features a playground and a pavilion for events, weddings, and festivals. The grand overlook area offers breathtaking panoramic views of the reservoir and the Atlanta skyline. Per their website, visitors can also experience the quarry through ADA-accessible trails leading to the grand overlook.
Yappy Hours at Hyatt Centric Buckhead & Americano Intercontinenal Buckhead
Not to be missed, Buckhead’s most popular Yappy Hours are held monthly on designated Thursdays from 5 to 6 PM from June 6th, 2024 to September 19th, 2024. They are hosted at the Hyatt Centric Buckhead and the Americano Intercontinental Buckhead. Sponsored by Livable Buckhead, admission is free but has a limit of approximately 25 guests.
As if yappy hour weren’t fun enough, Atlanta-based, Clean Club Mobile Grooming will be at the events offering valuable pet care information and on site $5.00 nail trims.
Scofflaw Brewing
Local favorite, Scofflaw Brewing has two Atlanta locations – both of which are family and pet-friendly. Leashed pets are always welcome on Scofflaw Brewing’s patios and service animals may accompany their handlers inside. These award-winning Atlanta staples serves up beer, seltzers, and more. Plus, they are a great place to meet other boozy pet parents, if you and your pup(s) feel like being social.
Krog Street Tunnel & Inman Park
Grab your pup, a properly-fitted harness, and a leash and head to Krog Street Tunnel to delight your senses and your pets’. Take in street art and graffiti in and around Atlanta’s one-of-a-kind Krog Street Tunnel.
Then, lose yourself in the charming, Victorian-style homes, plants, and flowers in nearby Inman Park. End the visit with al fresco brunch or a tasty refreshment in Atlanta’s first planned garden suburb along with locals and tourists alike.
Westside BeltLine 5K
For the runners, Westside BeltLine 5K is a dog-friendly event sponsored by Atlanta Track Club and Atlanta BeltLine Partnership. Held at the Westside BeltLine Parking Lot early on the morning of July 20th, 2024, event registration ranges from $35-$50.
Atlanta’s Finest 5K
Sponsored by the Atlanta Police Foundation, the Atlanta’s Finest 5K is scheduled for August 17th, 2024. Admission varies by registration level, is dog-friendly, and benefits Crime Stoppers Greater Atlanta.
The starting line is at Pemberton Place and, per BringFido, the non-competitive event showcases APD’s specialty units, including SWAT, the Phoenix One helicopter and the Mounted Patrol.
While we’ve referred to these spots as “pet-friendly” please note that the words “pet-friendly” often refer to dogs only. If you have an awesome adventure cat that likes to tag along on outings and events, we recommend you contact the event planner or venue to verify that Fluffy will be welcome. And, remember never leave your pets in the car unsupervised – especially when daytime temps rise above 70 degrees.
And, if your pets, like mine, prefer to hang at home, don’t let them cramp your style. Instead, count on us to keep them company, engage with them, and keep them busy while you live life to the fullest. You don’t have to be out of town for us to come over for a puppy or kitty play date!
