Summer in Atlanta sizzles, but that doesn’t mean you and your furry besties are stuck inside. The city is brimming with dog-friendly events that promise tail wags, belly rubs, and unforgettable memories for you and your pup. Today, we’re sharing Unleash the Fun! Dog-Friendly Summer in Atlanta to get you started on summer fun with your pup(s.)

Get Active

dog walking atlantaAtlanta’s BeltLine, a network of public trails, is a haven for active pups and their humans. Every other Sunday, join the Barks & Bites: Doggie Crawl on the Atlanta BeltLine. This self-guided adventure lets you explore the BeltLine while visiting participating restaurants with special dog treats and water bowls. It’s a fantastic way to socialize your dog, grab a refreshing drink, and support local businesses (dates for upcoming crawls can be found on the website).

Atlanta boasts several dog-friendly races and walks throughout the summer. If you and your furry friend are fitness enthusiasts, consider participating in the Westside BeltLine 5K on July 20th or Atlanta’s Finest 5K  on August 17th. These events offer a fun way to get exercise and support a good cause!

Grab a Drink

Looking for something a little different? Consider a Doggie Tea Party at The Queens Tea Party. These charming events, often hosted by local pet stores or cafes, provide a space for pampered pups to enjoy pupcakes, socialize, and maybe even get a stylish bandana.

Cool Off

If you haven’t heard of Swimply, check them out. They are similar to AirB&B but for pools. Some of the pool on their platform are fun for the whole family – dogs included.

Support Local

Take Precautions

While summer offers a plethora of dog-friendly events, remember to prioritize your pup’s safety and comfort. Avoid peak heat hours, bring plenty of water, and ensure your dog has proper identification. Remember to never leave your dog in the car unsupervised. Temperatures rise quickly; prevent a catastrophic accident by avoiding the risk of overheating entirely.

Here are some additional tips for a pawsome summer:

  • Pack cooling gear: A dog cooling vest or bandana can help keep your pup comfortable during outdoor adventures.
  • Brush up on doggy etiquette: Ensure your dog is well-socialized and has basic obedience training before attending crowded events.
  • Clean up after your pup: Be a responsible pet parent and always carry waste bags.

By following these tips and exploring the exciting dog-friendly events Atlanta has to offer, you and your furry companion can create unforgettable summer memories!
